In Folio of 37x24 cm, bringing together the 2 volumes of Sully's memoirs (535+459 pages)
Full contemporary calf with 6 nerves. Decorated spine, in used condition. Trimmed headdress and tails. Edge. Left joint split over 5 cm at the foot and head. Right joint split over 8 cm at the head. Covers in used condition, correct, skinned. Corners a little compressed. Speckled edges. Foxing and small (faint) marginal dampness at the beginning of the volume.
Title pages with two large watercolored vignettes.

One of the 2 counterfeits of the original edition of 1640, falsely printed in Amsterdam (the parallel of Caesar with Henry IV - Latin and French - is printed in Roman characters. The "royalles" of the title page has 2 "l", sonnets "Fortune à la Vertu" and Vertu à la Fortune" on the back of the title page of t.1)

Monumental documentation on the royal administration under Henry IV, in satisfactory condition.
